About me

My approach

I believe that everyone has the ability to heal and grow. Sometimes we might get stuck and need support to move forward or to be more true to ourselves.

I offer a safe, confidential space and a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship where you can bring whatever feelings, thoughts or concerns you are experiencing. This can bring greater self awareness and open up new choices and possibilities for you.

I work with a relational Gestalt approach to psychotherapy. This means that I work with the the whole person such as the thoughts, feelings, body sensations, intuition, beliefs and behaviour that may emerge when we are working together. I may invite you to experiment with doing something different or to use creative approaches, if you are open to it. I also have a contextual perspective on what might be affecting you. I work with people from all types of backgrounds, ages, LGBTQI+, ethnicities, genders and heritages respecting and affirming what is unique about you.

I can help you with areas such as: depression, anxiety, anger, abuse, trauma, relationship issues, domestic violence, family conflicts, panic attacks, neurodiversity, shame, self harm, stress, burnout, low mood, phobias, feelings of loneliness, racism and low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts , gender identity, bereavement; as well as those going through major life changes, such as pregnancy, birth, retirement and menopause.

My background

I hold a Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also a UK Council for Psychotherapy  trainee member working towards an accredited MSc qualification in Gestalt Psychotherapy, in my 4th of 5 years of training at Metanoia Institute. I hold full professional insurance and abide by the ethical principles of the BACP, UKCP and Metanoia Institute.

I have worked as an Honorary Therapist for Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest and as a counsellor for Counselling for Social Change.

Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked for over 20 years on issues of social justice and climate change, working for organisations, charities and in the public sector. I have developed a deep understanding of issues of stress and burnout as well as juggling work with other priorities. I also understand how social and cultural issues can deeply impact people.
